Calm Corner
It’s been an extraordinary year! Although we’re on the last quarter of the calendar,
the pandemic still lingers, the weather is miserable, the economic situation is
still challenging, and the current political situation makes the moment even more
worrisome. To gather our scattered minds and boost our positive energy, it’s essential
for us to have a quiet space to take a break. Here are some tips to create a calm
corner in your place.

|
- Scene: Tidy Up!
The first step to creating a sense of serenity is having a clean and tidy space. Regularly declutter your place or cover up the mess (if you’re running out of time) with a large, clean, plain-coloured piece of fabric. This is the easiest way to create a Zen zone. A neat, clean and airy space will tone down your angst, eliminate distraction, and offer a clear head space for you to rest and reflect on your day.

Scent: Aromatic Power Scent, either from a candle or from essential oils, is a small yet powerful element that can set up your good mood and bring back high spirits. To soothe your stress, green and flowery scents such as lavender, eucalyptus and orange blossom provide a gentle touch that will ease your angst. Scents with a base of earthy notes such as Cedarwood, Pine and Patchouli are the best bet to settle your mood and help you to gather your mind. To inject some positive energy, citrusy notes such as Lemon, Myrtle and Grapefruit are vibrant aromatic cocktails that instantly boost-up your spirits.

Sound: Sound or Silence There is plenty of evidence to suggest that sound can influence our minds. This can be true, but sound is also optional. Some people might prefer silence when it comes to rest or meditation. But if you like to have sound to tone down your mood, try the “Strings for Sleeping” playlist on Spotify, or meditation applications such as “Headspace,” “Calm” or “Insight Timer.” These are highly recommended for relaxing music and medication tips. The applications provide you various playlists and guidelines to help you meditate, relax and get ready for the next day.
